Breathe in the serenity and seclusion of these beautiful cabins located
in the tranquil mountains of East Tennessee. Built on land that originally
was home to a Cherokee Village, the land is still considered sacred.
These cabins are energy-efficient and custom designed by Gary Slone. Each cabin offers a large room with a murphy bed and a futon, linens, full bath with shower, fully equipped kitchen, wood stove and gas heat, ceiling fan, and rocking chairs and gliders on the front porch. There are no phones or TV to interrupt the peaceful setting. Days at Serenity Cove are quiet and restful. You may be visited by a deer, wild turkey or quail. There are many songbirds to watch and listen to. The evenings are a special time to relax on the porch, catch up on your reading, reflect, or simply enjoy your peaceful surroundings. While you’re staying at Serenity Cove, you can visit The Cherokee National Forest and The Appalachian Trail (5 miles away) where you can find beautiful hiking trails. Or you may enjoy rafting which is within a ½ hour drive or relaxing in hot mineral baths. If you want to hike close by – there are trails at Serenity Cove. |

| AleSandra and Gary Slone built the health center/home at Serenity Cove in 1995. They have created an atmosphere that is professionally clinical, yet invitingly friendly. Their main goal is to help people learn the steps to living more healthfully, including how to take care of their bodies, as well as how to care for the environment. They have joined their skills in health care, wilderness living training and building healthy, energy-efficient housing to establish Serenity Cove as an educational and health restoration center and retreat facility. AleSandra and Gary truly enjoy meeting and caring for people, and helping them learn the skills that will help them live a more healthful lifestyle. | ||

Serenity Cove was once the home of a Cherokee village and the land is still considered sacred by the Cherokees. Lady, a border collie, keeps this sacred atmosphere alive by allowing the deer, ducks, wild turkeys and other animals to graze within the boundaries of Serenity Cove. These animals respect Lady and never graze in any of the gardens. Lady and the wild creatures have a peaceful agreement about sharing the land and living in harmony. You can throw a frisbee for Lady and she’ll be thrilled to chase it and bring it back to you. Or just rub her tummy. When she’s not with you, she’ll devote herself to protecting the land. |

Our environment and housing have become increasingly full of health-damaging chemicals. Paint, stains, polyurethanes, chemically-treated wood and other building materials have the potential to compromise our health, cause allergies and lay down the beginnings of degenerative illness. We are all aware of the poisoning of the air, due to industrial and auto emissions. And our reliance on traditional sources of energy, as well as polluting the environment, is becoming too expensive and leading to depletion of our natural resources. Gary Slone designed the main building and the 2 cabins at Serenity Cove with energy-efficient and environmentally sound principles in mind. The main home/clinic has air purification systems, passive solar energy, energy-efficient heat and air, in-house reverse osmosis water purification and other environmentally safe features. Gary conducts “Healthy, Energy-Efficient Housing” and “Building Your Vacation Cabin” seminars to teach you how to build your own healthy, energy-efficient housing. He will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of locating and choosing safe materials, and then how to use these materials to build an environmentally friendly home. Gary will also discuss alternative energy and ways to reduce energy costs. |

Would you like
to learn how to live in the wilderness without any luxuries such as matches
and store-bought food? What if you were lost in the woods and had
no tent? Could you make a shelter? Can you follow the tracks
of animals?
Gary Slone was trained in wilderness living skills by Tom Brown, “The Tracker.” Gary would like to teach these skills to you, in a weekend “camp” experience, so you’ll know what to do with the abundance of natural materials in the woods. Learn how to build a fire, find food, make a shelter, and track animals. Many of these skills have been passed down from Native American teachers. Gary also has a special wilderness seminar for parents and children. He offers a weekend parent and child wilderness course, providing an opportunity for parents and children to do something exciting together. The seminar also helps children become more self-sufficient, while both parents and children learn important skills. Joe Bear is a Vietnam War Vet who survived in the jungles of Asia. He has spent over 25 years teaching wilderness skills. |
