Eagle's Nest Wilderness Camp 

 
     Eagle's Nest at Serenity Cove is a Wilderness Camp environment situated in 60 acres of woods and mountains.  Where learning how to live comfortably in nature will be taught.

     The basic skills of shelter, fire, water and food will be taught along with the following skills:

  • Trapping
  • Flint Knapping
  • Self Defense
  • First Aid
  • Cordage
  • Bow and Arrows
  • Foraging for medicinal and edible plants
  • Cooking with hot rocks
  • Basket weaving
  • Compass Reading
  • Making Primitive Tools
  • Making Clothing

     Weekend camp dates will be presented here soon.  Donations will replace set fees.  Participants will sleep in tents, in the center or creating their own shelter.

Instructors: Gary R. Slone and Joe Bear

*** Story telling and Native-American philosophy are an integral part of the teachings here.

     Gary Slone is a retired Marine Colonel of 37 years service.  He has completed courses with internationally known Tom Brown (The Tracker) at his wilderness school in New Jersey.  Tom Brown is the author of many books.2

     Gary Slone and his wife AleSandra own and operate Serenity Cove.

     Joe Bear is a Vietnam War Vet who survived in the jungles of Asia.  He has spent over 25 years teaching wilderness skills.
